Wayward & Limfjorden

This winter I have been developing new work for SOFA New York and Collect in London.

Wayward, 2

Wayward

The first group of new work is some wayward bowls. By that, I mean that they give you the feeling, that they have their own life and their own world. They are on the border between the controlled and the uncontrolled - and it is exactly the refraction field between the two I find interesting.

Wayward

Wayward
It is the controlled, elegant and exalted.
It is the alluring, disorderly unknown.
All is a part of the whole, the contradictions create a wayward life.

The bowls are made in wheelthrown porcelain. After the throwing, I alter the clay to get the different shapes. The decoration is inlaid clay and the bowls are glazed with runny glaze.

Limfjorden

The other new series of work is a further development of the series Limfjorden. The vases have now grown and the glazes have more depth to them. This have given them a less idyllic expression.

I throw the vases and after the throwing the vases are altered. I give them all an individual expression; with marks from my hands, by making them a bit off center and other alterations.

Limfjorden, 2

The black and grey lines are inlaid clay and the vases are fired upside down, which allow the blue glazes to run.

Limfjorden
The sky is big, it unleashes me, but it is also intangible.
The sea takes me away, but it also stops me from moving.
The horizon is full of opportunities.
